Flower of the Week
More often called Star of Bethlehem, but also known as Daddy’s Shirt Buttons , Wedding Cakes and Snapdragons, this is a common native wildflower, growing in meadows woodlands and verges
It has small bright white flowers – which look like stars emerging through the surrounding vegetation. The small stellar flowers have five petals, deeply divided and notched with grass like leaves. It provides a much needed source of nectar for emerging bees, butterflies and hoverflies as it flowers from April to June
