The Red-Green Carpet Moth
The Red-Green Carpet Moth
This beautiful moth is on the wing now and can be seen in gardens and hedgerows now
The caterpillars feed on various deciduous trees, particularly oak
It is found in woodland habitats across most of the British Isles
The adult moth has a subtle combination of reddish and green colours which seem to change in the light, patterned like its name. These moths have nothing to do with eating carpets!
