Book of the Month – Where the Wildflowers Grow by Leif Bersweden
Where the Wildflowers Grow
by Leif Bersweden
This is our Book of the Month and it makes botany accessible for all of us. Leif is a botanist with a Genetics PhD from Kew Gardens. Living in rural Wiltshire he spends his days running around the fields and woods looking for wild flowers
In his latest book Leif is on a mission, to explore the plants of Britain and Ireland and to meet up with those who spend their time searching for them. This is the story of a journey around the UK and Ireland, taking over a year, and highlighting the unique plants that grow in our country, their history and the threats that face them. Nature can be found in the most unexpected places, even the streets of London! Leif travels the length and breadth of the UK, from the pine forests of Scotland to the coastline of Cornwall. On his trip, Leif shows the joy and positivity that can be found understanding nature and explains why it is so desperately important to protect our wild flowers
Leif is a charismatic author and his enthusiasm is catching. He produces wonderful short videos on YouTube where you can share in his plant hunting adventures!
