Honey Bees Active In The Garden
Honey Bees Active In The Garden
Despite the freezing temperatures, my newly established but small colonies of Honey Bees are out and about foraging in the warmer afternoon sunshine on dry days. It is a sight to lift the spirits!
Favourite sources of nectar and pollen in my garden are the single headed Snowdrops, the saffron stamen of the Croci and the flowers of Viburnum Tinus, as well as those of Daphne, Winter Honeysuckle and the Witch Hazels as well as the Catkins. Also good for bees are Mahonia, Heathers and Sweet Box or Sarcococca, all of which I shall be planting for next year
