Incense Making Work Shop
Many of you who have visited our shop The Great English Outdoors in Hay on Wye may be familiar with the lovely smell of incense burning
Last week, Peter Neumann the maker of our range of incenses travelled all the way from South Devon to give us a workshop on the Ancient Art of Making Incense
Exotic sounding resins such as copal, frankincense, myrrh to name just a few are mixed with sweet smelling woods and petals from plants such as rose, geranium, cornflower, verbena, sage, rosemary…….Combined with a few drops of oils such as black pepper, Russian pine, to name just a few….
However – it is an almost impossible task to choose which of the hundreds of ingredients to use. The end result is entirely down to the skill of the maker and the wisdom of the teacher
We left the local Church Hall smelling divine, as it should
We would like to repeat this event again, same time next year as part of the Brecon Women’s Festival to mark International Women’s Day!
