This Hand Made Pottery Slipware Dog Bowl is perfect for the most pampered of our canine friends
It is not only a Dog Bowl but a work of art
Made from terracotta clay on the potter’s wheel and then dipped in a white slip
Earth brown in colour with a design of white dogs and spots in the centre of the bowl and around the edge
As each Dog Bowl is hand made slight variations may occur
Locally made
The incised decoration is called sgraffito – the design is scratched into the surface to reveal the red clay beneath
The Dog Bowl is then bisque fired, glazed and refired again
Slipware originate in Staffordshire in mid 17th Century and was used in the decoration of ornamental dishes
