Made from hand spun and hand woven felted woo,l made by the Bhutia tribe (a community of Sikkimese people living in the state of Sikkim in North Eastern India

The felted wool is made once a year by the Bhutia tribem, nomadic sheep herders from North Eastern India
Production is dictated by the seasons, the sheep are brought down from high up in the mountains and the wool is shorn and washed in the mountain streams to maintain its natural lanolin
The wool is carded and hand spun with a drop spindle, hand woven and then trodden on in the streams to semi-felt the woven cloth
